Sherri Russell

Sherri Russell

Charlana Kelly first met Sherri in a county jail five years ago. She was participating in a Christ centered program called WEST, Women Escaping Sex Trades. The program utilized CWC's Tools for Triumphant Living Independent Living curriculum. Sherri graduated from WEST a shining star. The minute you meet her, you know she has a special call on her life.

Sherri struggled with an alcohol addiction for most of her life, then became addicted to crack in 2000, but was desperate to break free. For many years, she would re-offend and return to jail. Each time CWC found out and reached out to Sherri with encouragement and hope. In the midst of all of it, Sherri knew fully that her only hope was Christ.

In 2006 after receiving a prison sentence, Sherri was sent to a work release program in St. Petersburg FL where she finally got the opportunity she needed to get her life straightened out. Through the help of God's faithful servants and Sherri's determination to be free, she can now say that she is living the life she always wanted.

Currently attending St. Petersburg University and working at a drug rehabilitation program, Sherri was recently licensed as a minister after preaching her first public sermon titled "From Outcast to Deliverance." In her own words she says, "Charlana Kelly, and the ministry of Christian Women's Coalition, not only reaches out to those who are in the pit of hopelessness, she has a relentless and extremely real love walk. Through an unconditional and non-judgmental approach to people, she and the ministry love each person to God over and over again. This is how I can say "I am the woman I am today because I have been impacted by Charlana Kelly and the ministry of Christian Women's Coalition. I thank God He called her!"
